Sun Khamunaki is a Canadian comic creator, illustrator, and pin-up artist, best known for her blend of fantasy, horror, and visual storytelling. As the founder and creative force behind Obscura Comics, Sun is the creator of several original titles and IPs, including Pumpkin, Becca Boo, Hail Mary, Martian Woman, Ormus, and more, expanding her artistic vision into fully realized worlds and characters.
Sun first gained widespread recognition for her cover work with Coffin Comics, bringing her signature aesthetic to Lady Death, Hellwitch, and La Muerta. Her portfolio quickly grew to include covers for Zenescope Entertainment (Grimm Fairy Tales, Robyn Hood, Van Helsing, Black Knight), Dynamite Entertainment (Vampirella, Red Sonja, Sacred Six), and DC Comics, where she rendered acclaimed covers for Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Birds of Prey and a series of covers for the DCeased: War of the Unded Gods storyline.
Her illustrations extend beyond comics, including album art such as Iced Earth and London May’s Devilution, and her work has been featured in ImagineFX magazine, highlighting her among today’s leading digital artists.
While Sun continues to collaborate with publishers across the industry, her primary passion lies in developing the Obscura Comics universe, writing, editing, and illustrating stories that combine dark themes, supernatural worlds, and bold, evocative character design. Alongside her comic work, she maintains a dedicated body of pin-up and cover art for her collectors and monthly supporters.
